World Figure 8® Racing Tour sanctioned by The World Figure 8(R) Tour, LLC Indianapolis, Indiana September 26, 2008 World Figure 8 Racing Tour, LLC d/b/a The World Figure 8 Tour is proud to announce the formation of the World Figure 8® Racing Tour. The World Figure 8® Racing Tour is a revolutionary idea in short track racing. The mission is to bring the thrill, excitement, and spectacle of the greatest event on the planet, the World Figure 8® Championship, on the road for fans across the country. The annual event has the Superstars with the World’s Fastest Figure 8 cars converging each year at the Indianapolis Speedrome. This September classic has brought great drivers over the years from California, Washington, New York, Florida, and everywhere in between to Indianapolis for the daunting test of man and machine. Now you can look for this unique brand of action at various Figure 8 tracks in 2009 and beyond. “Across the country there are so many drivers, car owners, crewmembers, sponsors, and fans that pour their passion into this sport that we love so much”, stated the World Figure 8(R) Tour marketing director Donald Walton. He further stated “Figure 8 racing has often been unjustly referred to as a sideshow. It is NOT a sideshow, but a great sport for spectators and participants alike! And for the betterment of Figure 8 racing, we intend to prove it!” Chief Steward of the World Figure 8(R) Racing Tour Dennis Love stated, “As many people as possible should see the incredible skill and excitement of our brand of Figure 8 racing. This tour will bring National exposure to our sport, which is great for our drivers and sponsors. I have seen all the greats from Sonny Thompson, Kenny St. John, Wayne Arnold, Mike St. John, Bruce Tunny, and Jack Dossey Jr. and cannot wait to see new talented drivers from across the country challenge the current stars of today”. The first events run under the World Figure 8® Racing Tour banner will be at the Auburndale Speedway in Winter Haven, Florida. The inaugural Florida Figure 8 Championship will be a four-day series pitting the host Sunshine state racing stars against Figure 8 drivers from all over America.
